Transformative Meditation: Beginners Course

The first term of the course is an introduction to the practice of meditation in a non-religious approach. Utilising the expertise, efficiency and efficacy of teachings from different traditions that use similar meditation techniques, mechanisms and principles to stabilize the mind through the relaxation and stillness of the body and facilitate the establishment of a meditation routine.

Through simple guidelines and techniques that can be adapted and arranged respecting everyone’s particular needs and lifestyles, people can take advantage of the immense benefits that these practices are able to promote. Also, the course will enable the students to approach meditation from a scientific based foundation regarding theory and practices bringing scientific and medical researches and studies to complement the teachings.

The course goals are:

- understanding the mechanisms and concepts of meditation from a science-based approach;

- providing guidelines and simple techniques in order to establish a meditation routine;

- clarifying misconceptions about meditation;

- getting an understanding of the processes that lead us to stress and how to counteract these processes triggering the relaxation response.

The course is beneficial to people who have never meditated before or to those who want to reconnect with their practices as it will provide the necessary structure and guidelines to establish a regular practice of meditation (create a routine) and reap all the benefits that meditation can promote such as:
